Feedlots

Elders operates feedlots in NSW and Victoria, with 85 - 90% of the cattle passing through them marketed on back-to-back contracts.

Elders feedlots
- Charlton Feedlot (Victoria) is a 20,000 head feeding facility which targets the domestic supermarket trade, heavy trade and high quality short-fed and mid- fed export markets. Charlton is 100% owned by Elders Rural Services Australia.
- Killara Feedlot (NSW) is also a 20,000 head facility feeding cattle targeting the domestic markets and short/medium-fed export markets. Killara is a joint venture between Elders Rural Services Australia and Taiwan Sugar Corporation.

AuctionsPlus
Is an electronic selling system for livestock that offers national competition, allowing buyers to log into and participate in the live sale, anywhere in Australia. Elders is a major supporter of AuctionsPlus and has qualified assessors in every region of Australia.
How you benefit
- Your livestock are exposed to a national gallery of buyers, maximising competition.
- You can participate in regular sales: 5 regular sheep sales, 3 regular cattle sales (including Eastern states, Tasmanian and WA sales), as well as numerous "special sales" each week.
- When stock are listed, you set a reserve price in consultation with Elders assessors.
- When stock are sold, the price is ‘on property’, with the purchaser paying freight.
- You are not penalised if grid specifications are not met, as the price is a flat one, particularly relevant for the sale of slaughter stock on a c/kg carcase weight basis.
- You receive accurate feedback information from the live assessment as well as kill sheet information for slaughter stock.

Forward Contracts
Forward contracts help you lock in a price for livestock to be delivered at a particular time to a set specification. They help balance the 'boom or bust' syndrome and enable you to better manage your cash flow.
Elders forward contracts are now available for feeder cattle and limited over the hooks grades, for all NSW, VIC & SA producers. For further details please contact george.last@elders.com.au

AngusPlus
AngusPlus is an initiative between the Australian Angus Society and Elders to run an on-line simultaneous sale for Angus commercial and seedstock producers. The sale takes place the first Monday of every month at 11am on the Auctions plus website - numbers permitting.
To be a part of this growing on-line based auction, you just simply have to meet the following requirements:
Sale Protocol
- Minimum Commercial Member of Angus Australia (cost $77 inc. GST).
- Female Sale Cattle – Joining sires and calves at foot may be by Registered and Performance recorded bulls of other breeds eg. Eligible Angus females may have calves at foot and/or be joined to Angus or any other breed. Cattle can be multi sire mated.
- Unjoined females and steers must be sired by Registered and Performance Recorded Angus sires and from an Angus female or dam of any other breed (ie Black Baldy cattle, etc are eligible)
- Sale cattle shall be assessed by an Elders accredited assessor to produce an AuctionsPlus livestock description catalogue.
- All livestock for sale are to be described in the Elders Xtra livestock catalogue on a per Lot basis.
- All females for sale aged 15 months or greater shall be pregnancy tested by a registered veterinarian prior to assessment, regardless of their said pregnancy status.
- All females sold as joined (regardless of age) shall be pregnancy tested by a registered veterinarian, prior to assessment by an accredited Elders AuctionsPlus assessor.
- Pregnancy Tested In Calf (PTIC) females shall have the joining period nominated.
- Cattle nominated as eligible for CAAB shall carry the Angus Assured ear tag.

Participation Costs
A per cost Angus Australia marketing fee of $1 for steers and $3 for females in single vendor offerings of 50 or over and $5 for under 50 females which shall be charged only if the lot is sold.

Charges are per head and GST exclusive.
